The Seekirchl (Lake Church) in Seefeld, officially the Church of the Holy Cross, is the town's landmark. Construction began around 1629 and was completed in 1666. It was built as a votive and pilgrimage church around a miraculous cross donated by Archduke Leopold V. Architecturally, it is a Baroque central structure in an octagonal shape with a dome and freestanding tower. Originally, the church stood on a small rocky island in the middle of the artificially created Kreuzsee (Cross Lake), which was drained in 1808. Today, it lies on the western edge of the town in the Kirchwald district. The Seekirchl (Lake Church) is usually open from May to October and is considered an important symbol and popular photo subject of Seefeld.

The Seekirchl - also called Heiligkreuzkirche - is probably the most famous landmark of Seefeld. It contains an old cross whose history dates back to 1628.

The baroque Seekirchl originally stood in the middle of the artificially created Kreuzsee, which was drained again around 300 years later in 1808.
