The Puglia was a ramming torpedo boat and most recently classified as a minelayer warship of the Royal Italian Navy,[6] which D'Annunzio received as a gift from the Navy in 1923. Its forecastle was delivered in 20 railway carriages and was erected on the slope called La Fida by 1925 under the direction of Silla G. Fortunato.[7] A memorial plaque on the ship commemorates the captain of the Puglia Tommaso Gulli, who died in 1920 in the riots that broke out in Spalato, Dalmatia, against the Italian occupation of the city.

D’Annunzio received the cruiser "Puglia" from Mussolini in 1923 as a present. So now this cruiser is on a slope. Reminded me of Fitzcarraldo and Klaus Kinski ... just as crazy!
