The Tauber Bridge near Tauberrettersheim is (together perhaps with the Gerlachsheim Bridge over the Grünbach) one of the most beautiful bridges in the Tauber Franconia region.

None other than Balthasar Neumann, the architect of the Würzburg Residence, is also responsible for this bridge. With the exception of the bridge saint Nepomuk, this bridge is unadorned, with deep and yet lavishly wide balustrades, and spans the lazily flowing Tauber in unique harmony - a paradise for ducks, geese and swans, and the many fish that stand in the water.

Upstream, the pillars stretch out towards the river, while downstream, they form gently rounded arches, as does the fan-shaped bridge and the rhythmically arranged pulpits resting on the pillars.

Standing on one of these small pulpits on a beautiful early summer day - an almost sensually tangible experience of unity and harmony.

No wonder that it is the statue of St. Nepomuk from 1716, which already adorned the wooden predecessor of the arched bridge, was moved unscathed to the central pulpit of the "new", stone bridge after the infamous Michaelis flood of 1732.
