At the time of the German division, the inconspicuous Titschengrundbach marked the inner German border, at the same time the border between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. Because of the narrowness of the terrain in the Titschengrund, the border fortifications of the GDR were built on the hill of Titschendorf. Right on the border (ie on the Titschengrundbach) the border troops of the GDR regularly patrol the Grenzersteig, which today everyone can hike. The unspoiled, natural trail runs in protected nature, constantly right on the Titschengrundbach, whose pure water you can drink without hesitation. In the valley there are numerous historical landmarks from the period around 1866, on the east side is FR (Principality of Reuss), on the west side KB (Kingdom of Bavaria). Even a few "DDR cuboids" can still be found. A seating group directly on the border invites you to rest - as desired in Thuringia or Franconia.
