Navia is a prosperous council located in the western Asturian marina. Bathed to the north by the waters of the Cantabrian Sea, it is limited to the east by the council of Valdés, to the west by that of Coaña and to the south by that of Villayón.
The town of Navia is the capital of the council. It is strategically located at the mouth of the homonymous river, at the bottom of a navigable estuary, which has been and continues to be one of the keys to its strength.
