    Hiking

The tallest lion in the world (*if the Sphynx doesn't count):
The stone lion is the landmark of the Gilepppe dam. With a length of 13.5 m, the massive 180-ton collos looks in the direction of Eupen. In the year of the inauguration by King Leopold II (July 28, 1878), the Prussian border at that time was about 5 km away. The lion represents the strength of the nation of Belgium.

    Hiking

The landmark is a 13.5 m high and 180 ton (other information: 130 or 300 t) heavy sandstone lion that adorns the dam crest and was positioned in such a way that it can look defiantly towards the Prussian border, which is only 5 km away. The executive artist was Félix Antoine Bouré. The lion is composed of 186 individual stone blocks weighing up to 7 tons.

An imposing dam. With a big picture on it. At the dam is a watchtower which you can visit for free. Fortunately there is an elevator.
