A first monument, dedicated to French soldiers who died in successive battles through the centuries - the War of the Spanish Succession in 1705-1706, the War of Austrian Succession in 1744, the Battle of the Revolution of 1793 and the Battle of the August 4, 1870 -, was inaugurated at this location on October 17, 1909. it was dynamited by the Nazis in 1940. But the rooster reappeared on the balcony of the town hall in 1945, at the Liberation. It is then placed on the new monument inaugurated on November 13, 1960.
