Hiking

A simple, rectangular brick column is the main element of this memorial, which commemorates the victims of war and tyranny in the village of Seelscheid. Its only decoration is a Latin cross on the front. The column is flanked by two much smaller, side-standing elements, which also mark the end of the natural stone paved access road. The upper end of these two pillars bears a stone replica of the so-called "Iron Cross." This military decoration was awarded in the War of Liberation of 1813, the Franco-German War of 1870/71, and both World Wars.
