Kjarvalsstaðir houses the works of one of Iceland's most influential and recognized artists, Jóhannes S. Kjarval. The exhibitions in Kjarvalsstaðir focus mainly on paintings and sculptures of established masters of modern art.
The building is a fine example of Nordic Modernism, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful Klambratun Park.
In the café of the museum you can enjoy the view with a drink or a snack. The museum café is open from 10:00 to 17:00. In the lobby there is also a museum shop and a nice family activity room, the Ideas Lab.
