The Pannhaus was formerly used as the seat of the lay court with a detention cell and an alleged shame post. It was also the seat of the mayor. The building got its name because it was used as a forced brewery during the time of the Kornelimünster Imperial Abbey. The name comes from the word pan (Platt: pann), because the beer was brewed in pans there.
It was brewed from the 15th century. Eilendorf received brewing rights as early as 1413. In 1454, Heyngen Keller secured the brewing rights for his descendants.
