Between Newport and Mulranny, the Greenway follows the old railway line through a varied landscape of reed beds, tidal water, peatlands, and low ridges. The path is wide, quiet, and gently sloping, with regular beautiful views of Clew Bay and the islands. Old bridges, stone walls, and quiet river arms give this part of the route a distinct rural and almost timeless atmosphere.

Great path with mostly very smooth tarmac, low gradients and amazing views. There are gateways, with fairly narrow cattle grids periodically, but easy to navigate on a bicycle.
