Brass wires were manufactured here and a weaving mill was operated, quote Hamburg.de: “... the senators built a mansion in 1489 at the place where the present one has been since 1712. The grain mill from the 15th century was used from 1622 as a copper mill for the production of brass wires. In 1828 the famous Sloman brothers leased the mill and turned it into a weaving mill with up to 150 workers. For a long time the two places had a life of their own until they were merged into one community in 1872 "
