The paddle steamer Hjejlen is undoubtedly Silkeborg's most famous icon. The old coal-fired paddle steamer has been sailing the Silkeborg Lakes since 1861. And he does that all the time. But the boat company "Hjejleselskabet" offers much more than just a boat trip with "Hjejlen" (translated: golden plover). The boat trips on the Silkeborgseen are quite unique. From the harbor in the center of Silkeborg you drive through the Remstrup floodplain, where the gardens of million villas stretch to the floodplain, the beautiful nature at Brassø lake, and maybe further through the Sejs narrows, where beautiful villas are again located, to the Borresø Lake and finally Julsø Lake, from where you can see the Himmelberg with its beautiful heather hills and the Himmelberg Tower. If you feel like it, there are plenty of opportunities to get off at one of the jetties and enjoy lunch or coffee and cake in one of the restaurants located on the lake. The atmosphere on board is cozy and informal characterized by the skippers, who have sailed much larger ships, but now have a pleasant job with Hjejlebooten. The mixture of experienced skippers and young ticket sellers creates a very special atmosphere that makes a boat trip with the Hjejlebooten an unforgettable experience.feriedanmark.dk/da/node/1778
