According to legend, a lightning strike destroyed the original temple. A jade Buddha was found among the rubble, which from then on represented a central sanctuary. Several temples claim ownership of it.

Is probably the largest and most famous temple in Chiang Rai. Beautiful temple complex with many orchids and a museum. There is also a jam of the late King Bumiphol

Nice temple complex with a copy of the famous jade buddah placed in Bangkok now. Additionally you can find a small museum showing a selection of religious art (free entry).
