A family trip up to the Falkenstein is worthwhile just because of the wonderful view of the entire Wolfgangsee down.

There are three indentations in the rock here that are attributed to St. Wolfgang: The devil, who was not bothered by the hermit's pious life, is said to have pushed the rocks together to crush him. However, Wolfgang stood with his arms outstretched against the falling mountain and left the imprints of his head and hands. A chapel was built over these stone imprints. The pilgrims stand in the same position as St. Wolfgang once did and hope to be cured of headaches if they lay their head in the indentation.
