Abandoned building on the side of the road, without function. Whether it will be a highlight remains to be seen. It is currently being renovated so that a holiday apartment can be created.

From 1850 onwards, the Duke of Coburg no longer had any use for his “Jägersruh” near Bad Rodach. Now a descendant has bought it back. Now it is becoming a holiday home.

The Jägersruh was built around the same time as the castle. In the course of the reforms after the revolution of 1848/1849, Ernst II renounced the hunting rights that had previously been his alone and transferred “the local high and low hunting” to the city of Rodach. The Jägersruh and the household goods inside were leased to the merchant Löhlein for several years to the highest bidder. The condition was that he covered the costs of repairs to the building. On May 24, 1853, Löhlein informed the castle authorities that he wanted to get out of the lease with half of the rent because he no longer used the Jägersruh. The castle authorities referred the matter to the Duke. He rejected the application because Löhlein had not complied with the requirements to maintain the building. On February 18, 1856, Ernst II decided to demolish the Jägersruh or to dispose of it in any other way.
