The World Heritage Route in the Harz Mountains leads through one of the most important and oldest mining regions in Europe. Ore, silver, lead, copper and zinc were mined.
St. Andreasberg has a variety of more than 400 types of minerals.
With a guided tour in Andreasberg on the traces of 3,000 years of mining history in the SAMSON pit with a shaft that has been sunk 810 m, you can get closer to the world underground.
The water supply for the pit from the Oderteich, which was completed in 1721, is particularly interesting.
