The Lichtenturm is part of the medieval city fortification of Paderborn.
The Lichtenturm - also called Haxter Warte - is part of the medieval "Warte", a control and protection work that surrounded the city of Paderborn in a wide radius.
Natural obstacles such as streams and streams were complemented by densely planted hedges, palisades and ramparts as well as within sight of each other and to improve the panoramic view on hill crests by built watchtowers. The control room could not hold back a determined enemy, but served rather as an "early warning system" for the actual city defense.

A waiting tower, a little hidden, that can be climbed. Destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt in 1986. With a ring wall around it.

An interesting atmosphere surrounds the tower.
The ascent is short, the view wide.
