At Sønderstrand, roads that can be driven on lead far out into the mudflats or to small bays, where you can also cross gullies. Driving is a bit like the endless expanses of a desert, but here the water is guaranteed to come back at some point, which can lead to problems.Parts of the beach are also reserved for sporting activities and should not be driven on.Therefore, NEVER be fooled by vehicles that are parked almost at the waterline and usually have four-wheel drive. With your normal car, you will later find yourself hopelessly trapped on the sandbank and will have to be towed out for a lot of money if you get stuck in the soft mudflats and the water keeps rising. But if the need becomes greater and greater, you are happy to pay and are very grateful to the rescuers if they are available. If you can't find a good Samaritan or don't want to pay, you could alternatively just let your car or motorhome sink... but even then you will have to have it towed away afterwards. It then takes a long time until the water-soaked seats are dry again, the interior is cleaned and the electronics are replaced. I'm wondering what it's like with an electric car and how much salt water a battery and electric motor can withstand.
So it's always better to be careful. 😉römö.net/html/romo_soenderstrand.html

Great flat beach. When and flood flooded and even at low tide can still be flooded wide areas.

If you see this vast sandy area for the first time, it reminds a bit of the big salt lakes in the USA thanks to its very large expanse. At least that was my first impression. It is hardly possible with the naked eye to make out the end of this huge area. Even after miles of march on the east side, the sight changes only very slowly. The beach (if you can call it that) is as flat as a pancake and is used for a variety of sports such as beach sailing.
