The world's oldest stone arch railway bridge. This engineering masterpiece was built at the beginning of the last century, in 1905, as part of the famous Bohinj Railway line connecting Gorica with Jesenice. 1,960 m3 of stone in the form of 4,533 carved stone blocks were used for its construction. Rail traffic on the new line between Vienna and the port of Trieste began in 1906. The bridge was destroyed in World War I, but was rebuilt according to the original plans, so it still serves its original purpose today. The bridge in Solkan has been a listed monument since 1985.

To see it well you have to go up onto the state bridge.

A wonderful opportunity to compare the "now" with the "before." The now is the suspension bridge over the Soca River, accessible to cyclists and pedestrians. The before is the stone bridge of the single-track railway line. Both, as well as the emerald-green Soca River, are eye-catchers!
