La Tour Saint-Jacques is an isolated building, erected in the middle of the square that bears his name. Bell tower of flamboyant Gothic style erected between 1509 and 1523, the tour Saint-Jacques is the only vestige of the Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie Church built in the 16th century and destroyed in 1797. This sanctuary was the meeting point and starting on the Via Turonensis (or Via de Tours) of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage. The statue of Blaise Pascal, installed at the base of the tower, recalls that he had here renewed his barometric experiences of the Puy-de-Dôme.

The late Gothic-style Saint-Jacques bell tower is the remains of a 16th-century church that was destroyed during the French Revolution. It is one of the most important sights in Paris!
