In Roman times, two highways crossed on the ridge of the Kleiner Heuberg between Geislingen and Rosenfeld.

One led from the High Rhine via Rottweil (Arae Flaviae) to Rottenburg (Sumelocenna), the other came from the Black Forest and led via Albstadt to the Danube.

At this ancient "motorway junction" (road width nine meters) there was an almost unexplored large rest area with several buildings.

The station and settlement (with a large urn burial ground) also included a fort area (140 x 190 m) that was built around 75 AD. The two major Roman provinces of Raetia and Upper Germania probably bordered each other in the crossing area.

At the highest point of the Heuberg, the "Häsenbühl", where you have a great panoramic view, stood the largest known imperial monument on the other side of the Rhine. Probably dedicated to the emperor Titus Flavius Domitianus (reigned 81-96). Of the multi-story, approximately 6 x 13 m wide monument, only a small "Kaiserstein" remains.

The city of Geislingen is a member of the Römerstraße Neckar-Alb-Aare e.V. Anyone interested can obtain a flyer about the Römerstraße from the Geislingen city administration.
