The military training area Wittstock (also Bombodrom) was a military training area in the Wittstock-Ruppiner Heide in the northwest of the state of Brandenburg. It was used from 1952 to 1993 by the Group of the Soviet Armed Forces in Germany (GSSD) and then handed over to the Bundeswehr.

Great surface for cycling. In summer it gets really hot and dry here. I had to stop here for repairs last time. Phew!
Otherwise very nice to drive on!

More than ten years ago, the Bundeswehr gave up the military training area in Kyritz-Ruppiner Heide. A success of the peaceful protest against the "Bombodrome". However, large parts of the 12,000 hectare site are still not free of explosive ordnance and are therefore closed. After all, 14 kilometers of public hiking trails have been released on the site and everyone can hike or cycle there.
