Symbol of the village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, the Medici Tower dating back to the 14th century and located at the top of the village had a lookout function. This tower was already present before the arrival of the De' Medici family who, however, carried out various interventions over the years. The fourteenth-century tower was originally 20 meters high, had a cylindrical plan and was built in local tanned stone. Unfortunately, during the 2009 earthquake it collapsed almost completely but, 12 years after the earthquake, it was completely rebuilt. - turismo.abruzzo.it/laquila/santo-stefano-di-sessanio
