Some sources speak of about 600 years. In any case, they are not entirely in agreement with the age of the tree.
The location at Gut Nederling is secured, the circumference approx. 6.32 m, and the height of approx. 23 m
The tree is also undisputed as a natural monument,
the tree species: winter lime (Tilia cordata)

Nederling: The first documented mention (as far as is known) of the settlement dates back to 1317, when Ulrich von Tor handed over a farm in Noederling to the Dießen monastery. In 1362 a farm is mentioned as a property in the monastery's land register. The name means either "near Nodirlo" or "in the wasteland" (Ederling). Presumably the barren fields and meadows were mainly in the west, in the south you soon came across the fields of Gerner farmers, in the north those of Moosacher. Originally, the forest of today's Kapuzinerholzl was probably also used by the people of Nederling. This small oak forest is a historically significant place.

The Röth linden tree in the Nederling district of Munich (Moosach district), immediately next to the Nederling estate and south of the NW 12 allotment garden, is one of the oldest trees at around 300 to 350 years old and, according to some sources, the oldest tree in the city of Munich. It is registered as a natural monument. The winter linden tree gets its name from the painter Philipp Röth, who often sat under the tree and painted landscape pictures. A memorial plaque on the linden tree commemorates the painter.

The linden tree is 23 meters high and has a trunk circumference of 6.24 meters. Due to the old age of the tree, extensive measures were necessary to preserve it in its current form. Eight metal crown locks were installed to care for the crown.
