A place conducive to contemplation, the cave, located on the road leading to Néewiller, was erected in 1901 by a couple from the village who lost two children shortly after their birth. The parish priest at the time suggested that they build a replica of the grotto of Lourdes. After the construction of the cave, the couple had the joy of giving birth to two children.
