The Marstall was built in 1848 according to plans by the architect Gustav Eberhard (1805 - 1880) with Gotha sandstone, as a ducal riding hall with stable building.
The main entrance of the north wing is a round arched portal, above is the Saxon diamond-shaped wreath coat of arms, a symbol for the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha.
The builder was Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha
(Born: June 21, 1818, Ehrenburg Palace, Coburg / Died: August 22, 1893, Reinhardsbrunn Palace, Friedrichroda).
Until 1997, even in GDR times, the building consisted of a riding hall with stables for horses.
In 1998, extensive renovations were carried out on the building and a change in use was brought about with financial support from the Free State of Thuringia. Offices, apartments and a gallery were created.
The dance school ADTV-Tanzschule Leichtfüß is currently located in the rooms of the north wing.
