With the laying of the foundation stone in 1844, the construction of one of the most imposing castles in northern Brandenburg began on behalf of Baron Oskar von Arnim. It served the von Arnim family as their residence until 1945. The German Society for European Education has used it as an education and seminar center since 1993.
