Lake Alserio is a lake located in the province of Como, Brianza, Lombardy. It borders the municipalities of Erba, Albavilla, Alserio and Monguzzo. The lake is contained in the Valle del Lambro Regional Park. The eastern shore of Lake Alserio is located along the eastern shore.

            CURIOSITY'
According to some authors, the name Alserio derives from the Celtic root "ser", water.
It is said that Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, while fleeing in retreat towards the castle of Montorfano, after the defeat of Tassera (9 August 1160), got lost due to the thick mist among the marshy meadows and reed thickets around Lake Alserio (in locality which from this episode was called "of the bitter bones". The sovereign was saved only by the intervention of his squire, who promptly rushed to his aid. Perhaps this episode was a sign of destiny: thirty years later, on 10 June 1190, the emperor himself drowned crossing the Salef river in Cilicia - a coastal region of modern-day Turkey - while on his way to the Holy Land for the Third Crusade.
