Above the Eisenbachtal you will find this seating area on the field under a prominent tree, which is ideal for a break. The country road is far enough away not to be a nuisance.

A nice place to stay and enjoy the view.

The legend of the Graf Hanse table

Count Johann von Eichelbach, so the old people from Eisenbach tell, was a very strict ruler. Although not the sole owner of Eisenbach (he still shared the district of Eisenbach with Electoral Trier and Nassau), he forced all Eisenbach citizens to help him in the field. Once, on a very hot summer day, he sat in his chair at the lunch table, ready to eat. Instead of dismissing his slaving subjects for lunch, he sternly ordered them to continue their work. His sumptuous meal was spread out on a boulder weighing several tons, and the count's meal was about to begin. At the first tone of the Eisenbach church bell, however, the stone began to turn, so that Count Johann could no longer reach his food.

Stunned, he carried his chair on and wanted to sit down again. Again the stone turned, which otherwise not a dozen men would have turned. When the third attempt to eat his meal also failed, the severe gentleman's eyes opened. Repentantly, he released the starving men and women to their homes.

This little incident soon made the rounds in the Goldenen Grund. The Count took it as a sign from heaven and improved from the hour. The boulder that served as a table for the Count at that time can still be seen today. His name is "Graf Hanse Tisch".
