The Mosque of the Xara or Hermitage of Santa Anna, is one of the most important mosques that are conserved in the Valencian Country. It was built around the 15th century to give a place of prayer to Muslims living in the valley after the Christian settlements of Valldigna. When in 1525 a decree was approved that forced the conversion of the Moors to Christianity, the inhabitants of the Xara left the farmhouse and shortly after the mosque became the Hermitage of Santa Anna.
