This access through Unhais da Serra is wonderful! A true paradise for cyclists. We must thank the stretch for paving (halfway up) the fact that cars avoid this side of the mountain. By far, it is the best way to climb Serra da Estrela.

Quiet road, mostly paved. Just small section of very easy gravel in the middle. But also the flat part of it. 😁
