The long white building with the two pointed gables, right and left, facing the market square is the district office of the Kyffhäuserkreis. The coats of arms in the gables are remarkable. The round building is the Alte Wache. Access to the castle, which can be reached via the castle stairs on the left-hand side, used to be controlled here.
