In the Middle Ages, in its place, called Puig Musart, a watchtower could be found that allowed surveillance of the north coast. Charles V reinforced it with a fence in 1554 and gave it the name Fort Sainte Thérèse. In 1679, Vauban ordered its destruction and had the current fort built.
Today it is a military barracks and is closed to the public.

The coastal path, from Argelès-sur-Mer to Cerbère, extends over 32 kilometers and allows you to discover a number of coves, capes, beaches and villages. Also bordered by the road, countless variations are possible depending on the starting point and the objective. The trail allows you to discover, among others: Le Racou, Collioure, Port Vendres, Banyuls, Cap Béar, Cap Peyrefite, Cap Oullastrell, Cerbère as well as numerous beaches including the magnificent Paulilles beach.
