In the Middle Ages, a watchtower called Puig Musart could be found in its place, which made it possible to monitor the north coast. Charles V reinforced it with a fence in 1554 and named it Fort Sainte Thérèse. In 1679 Vauban ordered the destruction and had today's fort built.
Today it is a military barracks and is closed to the public.
