Hiking

Between the Rennsteig and the DAV hut "Weidmannsruh" lies the marsh meadow, which partially extends over the entire Ebertswiese. It has been under nature protection since 1936 and is known above all for the idyllic mountain lake and the mountain hotel and is a popular local recreation area in Thuringia.

Hiking

The Sumpfwiese (swamp meadow) is significantly smaller and lies just south of the more popular Ebertswiese (Ebertswiese). Surrounded by dense spruce forest, this mountain meadow can be reached via the less frequented Heuweg (hay path). The landscape of the Sumpfwiese is dominated, among other things, by what I assume is a power line that supplies the nearby German Alpine Club (DAV) hut "Weidmannsruh."
