Embark on an easy 4.3-mile (6.9 km) hike from Turbigo to the unique Tibetan bridge in Ticino Park, a journey that takes about 1 hour and 46 minutes with a gentle 84 feet (26 metres) of elevation gain. This route offers mixed terrain, guiding you along the Ticino River and the Naviglio Grande through a natural area. You will pass through young and denser forests, cross the Canal Turbighetto, and enjoy brighter scenery with elm, oak, and black locust trees.
Your hike begins near the Turbigo railway station, leading you towards the Tre Salti resort where the Tibetan bridge is located. While the trail is generally easy, exercise caution when crossing the bridge and always follow posted rules. The area is easily accessible by bike or car, though reaching the trailhead on foot might be a little difficult. Consider visiting on a day when you can enjoy the natural surroundings, perhaps even picnicking by the river.
The highlight of this trail is the Tibetan bridge itself, a 70-meter long structure of steel and wood suspended about 8 feet (2.4 metres) above the Edison Power plant's drainage canal. Built in 2008, it offers a distinctive way to traverse the wooded banks. The trail also passes by historical points like the ancient Turbigo bridge, which was a vital communication point in Roman times, blending natural beauty with cultural interest.
