Søby's harbor is on Ærø's northwestern side. Sailors can look forward to the modern marina with a fantastic view of the South Funen Archipelago.

The first steamship connection to Faaborg was established in 1903. In the following years, the harbor was further deepened and an improved berth for the ferries was built. A small workshop for ship engines developed into a shipyard for the construction of fishing boats with around 30 employees around 1950. Today, Søby Harbor can accommodate ships with a maximum length of 135 m and a draft of 6.5 m. The shipyard (Søby Værft) is the largest employer on the island of Ærø with around 140 employees.
