The small village of Takahara is referred to by its residents as “Kiri-no-Sato”, a “village in the fog”. Due to fog rising from the river, the valley is completely filled with a sea of clouds on some days. The traditional rice terraces that spread out on the slopes below the village are particularly picturesque.
