The University of Groningen (RUG) led the excavation at Rutten. The bottom gave away special treasures: cannons, musket balls, rifles and grenades. But also tools, shoes, measuring instruments and other utensils. The archaeologists suspect that it is an English merchant ship that sank on the Zuiderzee in the 18th century. The researchers gave the ship the name Queen Ann, after the discovery of tin spoons with the coat of arms of the English queen.
