Tips

  • The Trinity Church (White Church) is a beautiful early Baroque building located on a peninsula near the picturesque Chereyskoye Lake. According to one version, the Trinity Church was designed and built by Lev Sapieha after the Union of Brest. At first, in 1599, a small chapel was built from local brick, then vaults grew to the left of it, which have survived to this day. According to another legend, the church was founded much earlier. In 1475, the Italian architect Aristotle Fioravanti, who had long been nurturing the idea of building a basilica with a thin vault without supports, stopped in Cherey on his way from Rome to Moscow at the invitation of Bohdan Sapieha.
