On the night of 6 to 7 October 1942 an English Halifax bomber crashed, returning from a flight over Osnabrück. Six of the seven occupants were able to parachute out, except for Sergeant Francis Anthony McCluskey, 20 years old and from a village in Northern Ireland. His parachute didn't open properly. He was found in this place. He is buried in the General Cemetery in Rhenen.
