The 1600 m long town wall with its 3 gates not only protected the town of Röbel from uninvited visitors, but also separated the new town, founded by German settlers, from the originally Slavic old town. The middle gate used to be at this traffic bottleneck. The city wall then continued along the street "Achter de Muer" along which there are also some parking spaces.

At this point in the extension of the street "Achter dei Muer" stood the middle gate, built in the 15th century, with a double moat, bridge fence and city wall. The gate replaced the former town gate of Alt-Röbel and thus separated the new town from Alt-Röbel. The city wall collapsed in a storm in 1714, and the central gate was demolished in 1820.
