Saint-Marcoult is a village in the municipality of Silly (Opzullik). It was a glorious place for the resistance during the Second World War. The maquis of Saint-Marcoult is a vast plain where parachute equipment, including weapons, was dropped for the secret army. The plane could be seen coming from 5 miles away. The story of the resistance fighters who made their way to the maquis along the forest paths in the dark, the radio contact with the plane, the flaming torches that marked the drop line, this story is kept alive with the so-called "MaquisStory", a scenofraf and interactive permanent exhibition in the chapel of Saint-Marcoult.
