The varied Hunte rises in the Wiehengebirge, crosses the Dümmer, flows through the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park towards Oldenburg and flows into the Weser northwest of Bremen. It flows through a hilly landscape shaped by the Ice Age: pine and oak forests provide shade for canoeists on the water; Heathland and sandy beaches, fields and lush meadows surround the romantic river landscape. One of the most exciting ways to experience the charm of these landscapes is to paddle them in a canoe.
