St. Vaast Church and its carillon
As a successor to the former sanctuaries, the church was built on the Grote Markt at the end of the 14th century. The church dominates the entire Flemish plain. The tower, built in white bricks and nicknamed "White torre" (the white tower) was built in 1513. It is extended by an octagonal spire that rises to 82 meters.

This tower is the only original remnant of the building which was damaged by fire during religious unrest in July 1582. The church was rebuilt between 1602 and 1620 according to the principle of the "hallekerke" with three naves with partial preservation of the transept. Inside, the survival of the transept is materialized by a double series of arch bridges separating the naves and the choir.
The building contains rich furniture, mainly in oak, which can be found in the confessionals (18th century), the pulpit (18th century), the choir stalls (17th century), the communion rail (18th century), the communion table (18th and 19th century) and the organ case with gallery from the 18th century.
