This is the Green Pool. What is striking is the silence in this place. Here used to be the 'Koninginnebank', the bench of Queen Sophie, the first wife of King Willem III. The bench made of tree trunks was made for her around 1862 by forest rangers. Queen Sophie enjoyed the beautiful view over the endless heath towards Kootwijk.
