The Maypole Friends' site is a former small quarry where local residents had dumped their cuttings and garbage.
In 1989, while searching for a suitable location for their events, the MB Friends decided to clear the old quarry in Wettergrund of its old debris.
In more than 600 hours of work, the members willingly created this place for relaxation and converted it into a publicly accessible rest area. After extensive excavation work, the site was graveled and covered with chippings, boulders were brought in, a well was built, and benches were installed.
During one of the first work shifts, a minor accident occurred in which a member broke a rib. Since then, the site has also been called "Zum Rippenbruch" (Fractured Ribs).
The Maypole is traditionally erected here on April 30th, and at the beginning of August, the members host the now popular summer festival "Zum Wettergrund."
Guests are always welcome.
