From Colletta di Rossana to Colle del Baraccone, passing through Valmala, Colle Birrone and Colle di Sampeyre, this beautiful route halfway between challenging gravel and simple mountain biking follows an ancient military road. The surface is always quite compact, but here and there there are some slightly bumpy or slightly eroded sections. Up to Valmala you pass through the woods, in a very suggestive environment. From Valmala onwards you are completely out in the open and the views are exceptional. There are several possibilities to shorten and descend to the valley, both from the Varaita side (Valmala, Sampeyre) and from the Maira side (Dronero, San Damiano Macra, Marmora via Elva).
