The Hulkesteinse Bos is a nature reserve of approximately 1000 hectares in the Dutch municipality of Zeewolde. The area is located north of the Nijkerkernau. The Slingerweg runs on the north side.
The Hulkesteinse Bos is a young forest area that was created after the restoration of Flevoland. The soil consists of clay, sand and peat. There are two recreational companies in the forest, the Eemhof and the nudist park Flevo-Natur. After recultivation, the course of the former Laak became visible. The original course of the river has been restored and now supplies the Hulkesteinse Bos with water as the Laakse Slenk. During the excavation work, the remains of a cog from the Middle Ages and remains of a prehistoric settlement were found at this site.
The Hulkesteinse Bos is managed by Staatsbosbeheer. The wetting of the area creates a swampy forest.
