Somewhat hidden on the slope north of the Oberlandsteig is this accessible cave, which was formerly inhabited by Stone Age people.

To reach the cave in the Dachfelsenberg forest section northwest of Aicha, follow the second field path from the Aicha-Konstein road to the right to the foot of the slope, then take the path half-left. which meets the Oberlandsteig after 30 m. On this one goes about 70 m to the left to a fork in the road and there takes the path that leads half-right up the slope. When you see a rock massif at the top right after about 300 m, you leave the path, climb the slope in the fall line and bypass the rock massif on the left. The cave is located in the further group of rocks behind it, about 80 meters above the valley floor and 10m below the edge of the slope.

During excavations in the spring of 1911, Karl Gareis came across a thick layer of fire running through the entire access tunnel, which seems to indicate an intentional fumigation of the cave dwellers. Shards and remains of bones from the Hallstatt period (around 600 BC) came to light below. At a depth of 1.55 m, yellow soil consisting of dolomite sand and stones began, in which, in addition to numerous small rodent bones, three stone tools were found: Two scrapers made of white chert and a blade made of red chert with splinters on the edge of use prove that in the end of the Paleolithic (around 11,000 years ago) the cave was used by humans. The tools were used by the Stone Age people for hunting or fishing and for cutting up their prey. Remnants of the bones of collar lemmings, hamsters, arctic hare and arctic fox were recovered from Ice Age animals.

Not easy to find in summer/autumn. It's best to walk cross-country from the western trail. Not accessible from the southern trail.
